“Comparison is the thief of joy”- Theodore Roosevelt
Comparing yourself to others is such a common thing I think it human nature! Self confidence can be one of those things that people may have lots of or be lacking. I am not surprised because social media has become a major thing in our life’s and your seeing different types of things and comparing your life to there’s. With social media, comparing ourselves to others, it’s in our face now more than ever before!
When we were younger you would remember coming home saying “Everyone else in my class has a phone why can’t I?” Or “So and So has it, why can’t I?”… and I remember my mother saying “Don’t compare yourself to them because your not them!” And that has stuck in my head, always! Now a days its things like your cup of tea in bed to her cocktail by the beach, the toned gym stomach to your jelly belly its things more like job titles and success, income levels, looks, lifestyle and house size that we compare ours to. The thing is we see there happy moments behind that nobody shares there bad times they want everyone to see there “happy” moments! Nobody boasts about bad things, do they? No!
There is loads of things you can compare yourself to others about but it’s bad thoughts that bring you down and takes joy away from your life and making you feel not good enough as a result. With these bad thoughts and comparing we should turn them to positive even making goals in your life but it’s all about, once your happy! You will notice that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side!
So, relax.. take a step back, think about what you have going on in your life. You have made it this far, made your own pathway, career and relationship. GIVE YOURSELF A PAT ON THE BACK! Don’t let someone else’s choices bring you down, think of your own and be positive! You are awesome!

Something I have learned to do a lot recently is to admire and not compare myself to others. Especially with blogging. Great post.

Thank you 🙂 Yes there was a time when I was comparing my life to others and than I had to snap back and have a think.. And blogging has been like that the last while thinking I’m getting nowhere but hard work pays off for us all 🙂 xx

I love this so much. Currently going through a lot of comparing since a lot of my friends are working abroad – I keep having to remind myself that my life isn’t as bad as I’m making it out to be and they only show the good bits on their social media!

Yes that is exactly it! I have been doing the exact same, your wishing your life away hoping for it to get better rather than just living it 🙂
